WHEN LIFE GETS TOUGH

When life gets tough
And we are just hanging on,
Looking for help from a friend,
Thinking all hope maybe gone.
Look around, say a little prayer,
We will find God is always there.
He has always been with us,
In good times or bad.
He is always in our company,
When we are happy or sad.
Always have faith in Him,
Never give up hope.
The prayer and praise we give him,
Could be our rescue rope.

Walter C. Stout Sr.

Haiku

Heart is very sad
My cousin buddy is gone
Angel with a song

Childhood friends are great
Good memories left behind
Filling emptiness

Taps

Each time I hear the sound of taps
And feel my eyes begin to tear
I vision graves of fallen chaps.
Each time I hear the sound of taps
My thoughts praise them and my heart claps.
The deeds they’ve done I will revere
Each time I hear the sound of taps
And feel my eyes begin to tear.

The Day Before You Left

The nerve band around my head
pulls tighter
as I walk the long, stinky hall
for probably the thirtieth time
this month.
Death is in the air,
it lurks behind each door,
in darkened corners. . .
relaxes in the nursing home
geri chair
biding its time.
I leave not really knowing
all I will have tomorrow
is the shadow of your smile.
